[The guy who said Israel is defending itself] Czech Foreign Minister Karel Schwarzenberg, whose country currently holds the European Union rotating presidency, said on Tuesday that Solana was "on his way to Cairo and Tel Aviv to continue the work" that the EU has started.

Medics say 660 Palestinians, including 215 children and 98 women, have been killed in the Israeli onslaught on the Gaza Strip.

Gaza emergency services chief Moawiya Hassanein said on Tuesday that more than 2,950 Gazans have been wounded during the Israeli attacks on the impoverished region.

The toll includes 43 civilians who were killed and 100 wounded when Israelis struck a school in Jabaliya, northern Gaza, he added. Link
