US-led air raid kills 22 Afghans

An air strike by US-led forces has left dead at least 22 civilians in Afghanistan's eastern province of Nuristan, an official says.

"The attack happened on a road in Want district while the noncombatants were traveling in two vehicles," district chief Zia-Ul Rahman said on Friday.

He added that civilians were evacuating the district as they had been informed by the US-led troops they would be carrying out an operation against Taliban militants.

"The civilians were in two vehicles when they were killed in the air raid," he noted.

The US military, however, has had no immediate comments on the incident. PressTV
