Ramallah: Tenthousands of Palestinians Commemorate the 60th Aniversary of Al Nakbah

On Thursday, the Al Nakbah Day,thousands of Palestinians gathered in “the largest rally in the West Bank since the outbreak of the Second Intifada.” After the rally the participants gathered in center of Ramallah on the Al-Manara Square, to mark the sixtieth anniversary of the Palestinian Al Nakba, and demand the right of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes in what is now called Israel.

More than 1milj.Palestinians were displaced in the war of 1947-1949, which resulted in the erection of an imaginary state on Arab land, named Israel.After the expulsion and the confiscations of Palestinian land and property,millions of Palestinian refugees and their descendants are now,shattered around the world,100.000 of thousands live their lives throughout the Middle East, in refuge camps,in Gaza Strip,the West Bank, in Jordan, Lebanon, Syria and in Iraq.

Before the main demonstration in Al-Manara Sqare had ended, Palestinian youth had prepared them self to confront the Israelis, positioned by the Qalandia checkpoint.The young ones,blocked the Ramallah - Jerusalem road with rocks, burning tires, and garbage dumpsters,stones were hurled towards the IOF, aimed an shot at the children with heavy machine guns, loaded with rubber coated metal bullets and they also throw sonic bombs.The Israelis in armed vehicles forced the youths off into the Qalandia refugee camp.

Jamal Juma’, coordinator of the Palestinian Anti-Apartheid Wall Campaign and organizer with the "National Committee to Commemorate the Nakba" said, “The enthusiastic mobilization in the last week among Palestinians all over their homeland and in the Diaspora has shown that 60 years of ongoing Nakba, massacres, assaults and repression have not been able to subdue the Palestinian call for their rights.
