Election donation inquiry for Ehud Olmert

Ehud Olmert, the Israeli Prime Minister, was questioned by police about allegations involving campaign donations he received from an American between 1999 and 2002, a statement from the office of Mr Olmert said.

The police questioned Mr Olmert, who has been investigated previously over a property deal and political appointments, at his home in Jerusalem for about an hour.

He was questioned under caution, suggesting that the investigation could end in an indictment and resignation, according to a report on Channel 2, an Israeli television station. AP
