Vehicle ban slammed on Baghdad on Wednesday

Baghdad, Apr 8, (VOI) - The Baghdad’s operations command decided on Tuesday to impose a ban on vehicles on Wednesday throughout Baghdad.

“A ban on vehicles was imposed on the Iraqi capital Baghdad on Wednesday as of 5:00 am on Wednesday until midnight,” General Qassem Atta, the official spokesman for the Baghdad’ operations command, told Aswat al-Iraq – Voices of Iraq – (VOI).

The official spokesman for the Iraqi government had said earlier that the cabinet decided to suspend the work in its institutions on Wednesday throughout Iraq to commemorate the U.S. invasion of Baghdad.
Tomorrow, Apr 9, 2008, marks the fifth anniversary of the U.S.-led invasion to the Iraqi capital Baghdad to topple the former regime.

Shiite Cleric Muqtada al-Sadr had renewed calls to all Iraqis to participate in a peaceful “million” demonstration on the anniversary marking the U.S. invasion of Iraq.
