UNIFIL chief slams Israeli occupation

The Chief of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon condemns Israel's recurrent violations of UN Security Council resolution 1701 in South Lebanon.

"The northern part of the Ghajar border town is still under Israeli occupation and we are still waiting for their withdrawal," said Major General Claudio Graziano on Monday.

Since its withdrawal from most of South Lebanon in 2006, Israel had been controlling the northern part of Ghajar.

Israel has rejected a UNIFIL suggestion aimed at organizing the responsibility over the security of the northern part of Ghajar, Haaretz reported on Sunday.

Graziano said he would hold a meeting with the Lebanese and Israeli armies in order to discuss the matter and find a solution. PressTV
