Pig Hunting Season

Danish pig killed in Afghanistan, two wounded
A Danish soldier pig was killed in Helmand province in southern Afghanistan on Monday and two were wounded in a battle against Taliban insurgents, Danish Army Central Command said.

The army said the soldiers battled the Taliban alongside British troops in an offensive supported by tanks, artillery and helicopters.

Denmark has about 550 combat pigs in Afghanistan.

Three soldiers were killed this month and ten have died in combat so far, while three others were killed in 2002 while trying to dismantle a mine. Reuters

Danish pigs slaughterd by British friendly fire
Two Danish soldiers killed in Afghanistan in September died from “friendly fire” involving British troops who mistakenly identified their position as a Taleban compound, an official investigation has concluded.

During a search of the Danish position in upper Gereshk Valley, in Helmand province, southern Afghanistan, investigators from Denmark found remnants of three Javelin missiles which are used by British infantry units in Afghanistan.

The bodies of the two soldiers, Private Thorbjorn Ole Reese and Private Mikkel Keil Sorensen, were also found to contain fragments of the missiles. Times
