Change position
It appears there will never be a settlement to the Israel-Palestine conflict. Many moderate Palestinians believe Israel is an occupying army, while many Israelis want security and believe the land belongs to Israel.
Israeli control of the West Bank tells Palestinians that even if there is a peace agreement, the settlements will stay. It is as if Pennsylvania occupied New Jersey, set up Pennsylvania-only settlements and Pennsylvania-only roads and controlled access to the remainder of New Jersey with multiple checkpoints. New Jersey residents would do everything they could to push the Pennsylvanians out.
Every Israeli administration has stated that even under ideal conditions, Israel will not dismantle all settlements and recently they announced that several West Bank settlements will be expanded. It seems impossible that Palestinians will ever accept and be happy with this arrangement.
Even if the rockets and suicide bombings end, it does not appear Israel will change its position on the settlements. The corollary would be if Israel dismantles every settlement and eliminates every checkpoint, would the rockets and suicide bombings end?
Even if all the surrounding Arab countries, the European Union and the United States provided support to Palestine, would the hard-line attitudes change? Probably not.
Gaza is a whole other issue with Hamas in control and the highest density population on Earth. Add to all this the vitriolic teaching and preaching on both sides against the other. People will be reluctant to change. Link
