Ron Paul: "People are looking around for an excuse to bomb Iran"

Cites latest Iranian provocation while other candidates attack his anti-war stance

Ron Paul urged caution amongst his fellow GOP candidates at last night's Fox News debate concerning relations with Iran, while the other presidential hopefuls used the forum as an opportunity to attack Paul's anti-war stance.

"People are looking around for an excuse to bomb Iran. . . . We don't need another war," Paul warned.

Mitt Romney accused the Congressman of reading "press releases" from Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, while John McCain somewhat bizarrely commented: "I'm not interested in trading with al-Qaeda. All they want to trade is burqas. I don't want to travel with them. They like one-way tickets."

Paul responded by declaring that the other candidates were ratcheting up war rhetoric:

"I would certainly urge a lot more caution than I'm hearing here tonight," Paul said. "This incident should not be thrown out of proportion to the point where we're getting ready to attack Iran over this."
