Israel Knesset Gives Preliminary Go-Ahead To A Bill On Using PA Tax Funds As Compensation
Jerusalem, Israel (AHN) - Reports on Wednesday said that a bill that would utilize taxes collected for the Palestinian National Authority as compensation for the damage incurred by militants' rocket attacks is being reviewed by the Israeli Knesset.
In a 37-23 vote on Wednesday, Knesset constituents voted to give initial endorsement to a new bill presented by MK Israel Hasson and Limor Livant.
The bill would target the tax funds to be used for evacuation costs linked to the rocket attacks and any related spending due to property damage, mental health illnesses and lost work days, according to a news agency.
Hasson said: "I believe that the time has come that we hold the PA responsible for the actions of its people."
He also pointed out that the proposal is practical and stands for the basic principles of justice.
