Israeli troops invade southeast Gaza

Israeli troops rolled into southeast Gaza Strip Thursday morning and bulldozers leveled agricultural lands, Palestinian security sources and witnesses said.

The sources said the Israeli tanks and bulldozers entered for one kilometer in al-Fukhari neighborhood to east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza Strip.

The witnesses said that Israeli soldiers stormed several houses, held the residents inside rooms and searched the houses before arresting a number of people.

The Israeli army often carries out searches and roll into areas near the border with Gaza. On Wednesday night, Israeli soldiers killed two Hamas militants near the security fence separating Gaza and Israel.

In other incidents, the Popular Resistance Committees (PRC) claimed responsibility for detonating a roadside bomb targeting an Israeli army jeep near the southern Gaza Strip border.

In a statement sent to the reporters, the PRC said the

operation was in response to the death of a Palestinian prisoner inside an Israeli prison during a crackdown on the prisoners. More...
