The Future of Chip Implants

Chip_implant_2There has been a revolution in the field of neuroscience as of late, and more and more reports of ‘chips’ small enough and clever enough to be implanted within the human body have wowed us with tales of almost science-fiction like believability.

That believability has received a proverbial shot in the arm, thanks to a recent grant of $2.5 million gifted to the University of Florida. Researches from the College of Medicine, the College of Engineering and the McKnight Brain Institute at UF have all teamed up to design a “neuroprosthetic” chip that will have the sole purpose of being implanted within a humans brain.
